Ariane Chapelle, PhD, is an internationally recognised trainer and consultant in Operational Risk. Dr Chapelle is an Honorary Reader at University College London for the course 'Operational Risk Measurement for Financial Institutions’ and is a Fellow of the Institute of Operational Risk. In 2018, she designed the Certificate of Learning and Practice in Advanced Operational Risk Management, an accredited course for the Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA), which she delivers globally.
Nicolas Renard has 18+ years of experience in financial services. Since 2010, he has specialised in non-financial risk management, combining consulting and practitioner experiences, both in 1st and 2nd lines of defense, delivering critical operational risk and compliance projects for major retail and private banks.
Nicolas holds a Master’s degree in Management and is certified in Project Management (PRINCE2 Practitioner) and Process Improvement (Six Sigma Green Belt).
David Lannoy has gained vast experience in risk management over the last 20 years. He has worked in a wide range of sectors such as public service, finance, telecommunication and life sciences. David’s key achievement is bringing enterprise risk management and internal control to a higher level of maturity in international organisations. Among others, he has worked for the Committee of Regions, the European Economic and Social Committee, and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency.
Riccardo has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and banking sector and is a specialist in business transformation. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt, skill and experience he combined with risk management method when he was in charge of RCSA for a major European bank as Group Operational Risk Manager. Riccardo is fluent in French, Dutch, English, Spanish and Italian. His recent projects include the design and implementation of a risk management framework, the design of action plans, and workshop facilitation and follow-up of remediation actions and reporting.
Natalie Gapp is currently working toward her PhD in computational finance at University College London (UCL). Her research focuses on building machine learning tools for operational risk. She previously received an MSc in the same field from UCL where her dissertation focused on building machine learning models for financial news analysis. Natalie has an undergraduate degree in International Political Economy and Latin American Studies from Fordham University where she graduated summa cum laude.
Jimi has 20 years of experience in operational risk and regulation. Jimi has held several roles at the UK regulator, including as an operational risk policy SME and Basel 2 specialist, and as a supervisor of major banks and investment firms. Jimi has also held senior positions within the GSIFI MUFG, including as Head of EMEA Regulatory Affairs.
Andrew Sheen is best known for the 8 years he spent at the UK regulator, firstly in the FSA and subsequently at the PRA. In his time with these authorities, Andrew was manager of the Operational Risk Policy Team before moving to head the team responsible for providing Operational Risk subject matter expertise to supervisors.
Helene is a dedicated professional in the area of Risk and Strategic Management. After attaining her MscBA in Strategic Management at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University she started her professional career in Risk Management as a consultant at one of the big 4 accounting firms. Her exposure to various industries and organizational structures in the area of risk management and internal and external audit have equipped her with a good understanding of organizational processes and dynamics in this area.
Pierre Vijfeyken has a rich experience in internal control and operational risk management, gained over the last 15 years in diverse sectors including banking, insurance, leasing, factoring and telecommunication, both in business & IT consulting, or in internal positions.
His main achievements include: the deployment of risk management functions and associated risk governance for large financial services organisations, the implementation of Solvency 2 directive and of a process-based internal control system for insurance companies, and the implementation of a business continuity plan and associated deliverables for a factoring company.
Pierre holds Master’s degrees in Applied Economical Sciences and in Controllership, and he is a Certified Process Professional, Certified Internal Control Specialist (CICS) and Certified Data Protection Officer (DPO).
Julie has worked in the insurance sector in operational risk management and Lean management. She has experience in the industrial sector as R&D Engineer and Process Engineer. She is a lean management specialist and has experience both in Industry and Insurance sectors, developing Lean projects in the field as well as in the offices.
As an operational risk manager, she supported the business unit in the implementation and maintenance of an effective operational risk management (ORM) framework. She likes to draw parallels between lean management and risk management to simplify the approach to risk management.
